While brutal force has been used to create Zionist Israel and sustain it thus far, Zionist claims to Palestine are false. Actually, from the five thousand years of known written human history, there has been a continuous Palestinian-Canaanite presence in the Holy Land. Despite the Zionist false claims, the ancient Israelites ruled part of the land for only 85 years (during the reign of Prophets David and Solomon , peace be upon them, and Solomon's son).

After that, the Egyptians conquered Palestine-Canaan in 925 BC, followed by Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, before the Arab Muslim rule, starting from 636 AD.

By the Time Jesus, peace be upon him, started his mission, the three population groups of Canaanites, Palestinians, and Israelites were melted together in religion and language. Most of them became Christians when Constantine converted in 313 AD. Then, most of them became Muslims in the 7th and 8th centuries AD.

So, Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews are the ones who have the right to claim descent from ancient Israelites, Palestinians, and Canaanites, not Zionists from other continents.

No matter what the Zionists and their supporters do, they cannot change the will of God, Who promised the Holy Land to Abraham and his descendants, basically the Palestinian Muslims and Christians.

No matter how much persecution and aggression the Zionists and their supporters inflict upon the Palestinian people, they will never be able to force them out of the Holy Land, which Allah, praise to Him, promised for them, and kept His promise ever since.

This is a necessary brief background to understand the US-Backed Zionist Israeli continuous wars against the Arab nation generally, and the Palestinian people in particular, which included the wars of 1948, 1956, 1967, 1978, 1982, the brutal crushing of the two Uprisings (1987-1993 and 2000-2004), 2009, 2012, 2014, 2021, and the current genocidal war on Gaza (Since October 7, 2023), which has culminated a blockade of Gaza since 2007. In addition, the Israeli occupation and apartheid regime launched so many covert operations, raids, and air strikes on many Arab states since 1948.

The following news stories are just examples, not a systematic record, of the Israeli occupation government abuse, mistreatment, and violations of Palestinian human rights, on daily basis.

Israel assassinates Al Jazeera correspondents in Gaza, Anas Al-Shareef and Mu'hammed Quraiqi'

Monday 11-August-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

The Israeli occupation forces assassinated on Sunday evening two Al Jazeera correspondents, journalists Anas Al-Shareef and Mu'hammed Quraiqi', in a direct strike targeting a journalists’ tent opposite the Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City.

Press sources confirmed that the Israeli occupation targeted the journalists’ tent opposite the Al-Shifa Medical Complex, resulting in several martyrs, among them al-Sharif and Qreiqah.

The assassination came just hours after a press conference by the Israeli prime minister, during which he repeated false accusations against media outlets, claiming they distort what is happening in the Gaza Strip.

Anas Jamal Mahmoud al-Sharif was born on 3 December 1996 and lived in Jabalya refugee camp. He studied at UNRWA and Palestinian Ministry of Education schools. In 2014, he enrolled at Al-Aqsa University, majoring in radio and television.

On 23 September 2018, he was injured by shrapnel from a live bullet in the abdomen while covering a march east of Abu Safiya hill, northeast of Jabalya.

He began as a volunteer at the North Media Network before joining Al Jazeera as a correspondent during the current war. He had been threatened by Israeli occupation forces because of his coverage of the Gaza genocide. On 11 December 2023, Israeli warplanes bombed his family home in Jabalya refugee camp, killing his father.

Journalist Mu'hammed Quraiqi' joined Al Jazeera after working as a researcher in a human rights organization. His mother was killed in an Israeli strike during last year’s siege of the Al-Shifa Medical Complex.

'Hamas mourns five Al Jazeera journalists, deplores their assassination

Monday 11-August-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

The 'Hamas Movement has condemned the Israeli occupation army’s assassination of five Al Jazeera channel journalists, including Anas Al-Shareef and Mu'hamed Quraiqi', as a “brutal crime that exceeded all levels of fascism and criminality.”

“A new galaxy of journalists has joined 232 of their colleagues who were cold-bloodedly killed by the Nazi occupation army … following a criminal attack by an Israeli suicide drone on their tent in the main courtyard of Al-Shifa Hospital in the west of Gaza City,” Hamas said in a statement on Monday.

'Hamas called Israel’s systematic killing of journalists in Gaza as “the largest and most egregious campaign of targeting media professionals ever recorded in any conflict.”

Hamas mourned the martyred Al Jazeera journalists — Anas Al-Shareef, Mu'hammed Quraiqi', Ibrahim Daher, Moamen Eliwa, and Mohamed Nofal.

The Movement hailed Anas ash-Sharif as a “free journalist who fearlessly documented the Israeli crime of starvation and showed to the world scenes of the famine spreading in the Gaza Strip.”

The Israeli occupation army admitted the deadly strike on the journalists’ tent, claiming it had intelligence and documents against Anas Al-Shareef and accusing him of being involved in rocket attacks against Israeli citizens and forces.

However, human rights groups said ash-Sharif had been targeted for his frontline reporting on the Gaza war and that Israel’s claim lacked evidence, accusing it of systematically targeting journalists during the war.

UN: Targeting journalists is violation of international law

Monday 11-August-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights affirmed on Monday that the targeting and killing of six journalists in Gaza by Israeli occupation authorities constitutes “a blatant breach of international humanitarian law.”

According to the commission, the Israeli army struck a tent sheltering five members of Al Jazeera’s crew, including correspondent Anas Al-Sharif, along with an independent photographer, in an attack that Israel admitted to carrying out.

The commission noted that at least 242 Palestinian journalists have been killed in Gaza since the war began in October 2023.

In this context, European Union Commissioner for Equality, 'Hadja La'hbeeb, described Israel’s killing of journalists in Gaza, including Anas Al-Sharif, as a direct blow to press freedom.

In a statement posted on her account on the X platform, La'hbeeb condemned the killing of journalists and stressed the urgent need to protect civilians and the press at all times.

Since the start of its bloody war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023, Israel has carried out documented public incitement to kill Palestinian journalists, placing them in constant danger as they work in the field to document the occupation’s crimes against their defenseless people, from killings and starvation to mass displacement.

On Sunday evening, Israeli warplanes targeted a journalists’ tent at Al-Shifa Hospital in western Gaza City, killing seven people, including members of Al Jazeera’s crew.

According to the Government Media Office, the number of journalists killed since the start of the genocide in Gaza has risen to 238.

UNRWA Commissioner-General: The Israeli occupation army continues to silence voices reporting atrocities from Gaza

NEW YORK, August 11, 2025 (WAFA) -

Commissioner-General of UNRWA, Philippe Lazzarini, said the Israeli army continues to silence voices reporting atrocities from the Gaza Strip.

In a post on X, Lazzarini expressed horror at the Israeli killing of another five journalists in Gaza City.

He said, “Since the war began, more than 200 Palestinian journalists have been reported killed with total impunity.”

He further stressed, “Israel is also blocking access of international journalists to report independently since the war began nearly two years ago.”

Lazzarini emphasized the need to protect journalists and allow international media into Gaza to support the heroic work of their Palestinian colleagues, saying, “Journalists must be protected and International media must get into Gaza to support the heroic work of their Palestinian colleagues.”

He concluded, “This is the only way to counter disinformation and prevent doubts about the scale of atrocities committed in Gaza.”

Journalist death toll in Gaza climbs to 238 amid Israeli genocide

Monday 11-August-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

The Palestinian Government Media Office (PGMO) in Gaza announced on Monday that the number of journalists martyred in the ongoing Israeli genocide has risen to 238, following the martyrdom of a sixth journalist in the Israeli airstrike near Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.

According to the statement, journalist Mu'hammed Al-Khalidi, who worked with the Sa'hat platform, was martyred when Israeli occupation forces (IOFs) bombed the journalists’ tent in the hospital’s vicinity.

Al-Khalidi became the sixth victim of the massacre, joining five other journalists martyred in the same attack: Al Jazeera correspondents Anas Al-Sharif and Mu'hammed Quraiqi', photojournalists Ibraheem Dthahir and Mumin 'Ulaiwa, and their assistant Mu'hammed Noafal.

The PGMO urged the international community, press freedom organizations, and media advocacy groups worldwide to condemn the killings, hold Israel accountable in international courts, and apply serious pressure to halt the ongoing genocide and protect journalists in Gaza.

Separately, Al-Sada Social Center accused major social media platforms of enabling incitement and hate speech campaigns against Palestinian journalists, saying these campaigns have created a climate that encourages their targeting and killing.

The center condemned the assassination of the six journalists at Al-Shifa Hospital, calling it a grave violation of international humanitarian law and freedom of the press.

Al-Sada Social stressed that the platforms’ failure to curb systematic digital incitement directly contributes to justifying crimes against journalists and Palestinians in general, and called for an urgent international investigation and accountability for those responsible.

Al-Sharif and Qariqa had been reporting on the bombardment of Gaza since October 7, 2023, despite 22 months of constant danger. Al-Shareef, in particular, faced repeated IOFs incitement campaigns, that led to the December 2023 bombing of his home in Jabalya camp that killed his father.

His final will, shared on social media last April, read, “I entrust you with Palestine, the crown jewel of Muslims… I entrust you with its oppressed children. Do not forget Gaza and be bridges for liberation.”

With US backing, Israel continues its war of genocide in Gaza, killing, starving, destroying, and forcibly displacing Palestinians in defiance of international calls and rulings from the International Court of Justice to stop.

The genocide has so far left 61,430 martyrs and 153,213 wounded, most of them women and children, with over 9,000 missing. Starvation imposed by Israel has claimed 217 lives, including 100 children.

Gaza death toll surges to 61,499, casualties to 153,575

GAZA, August 11, 2025 (WAFA, PIC) –

The death toll from the Israeli genocidal aggression on the Gaza Strip Monday surged to 61,499 civilians, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.

The Ministry said that the total death toll in the Gaza Strip has climbed to 61,499, mostly women and children, since the onset of the genocidal aggression on the Strip on October 7, 2023.

The Ministry added that the toll of casualties since the outbreak of the aggression has also climbed to 153,575.

The Ministry pointed out that just within the last 24 hours, the bodies of 69 slain Palestinians, including one retrieved from the rubble, and 362 injuries were transferred to hospitals.

The Israeli occupation apartheid regime unilaterally ended the Gaza ceasefire agreement and resumed its aggression on the Strip on Tuesday, March 18, carrying out a wave of bloody airstrikes, killing at least 9,989 with 41,534 others wounded, according to medical sources.

The death toll of aid seekers who were killed at or near US-backed aid distribution points, reached 1,807 and the injuries to 13,012 of the aid seekers.

Moreover, at least 10,000 people are unaccounted for, presumed dead under the rubble of their homes throughout the Strip.

The Israeli genocidal war on the Gaza Strip has also resulted in the forceful displacement of nearly two million people from all over the Gaza Strip, with the vast majority of the displaced forced into the densely crowded southern city of Rafa'h near the border with Egypt – in what has become Palestine’s largest mass exodus since the 1948 Nakba.

Gaza: Heavy Israeli bombardments, attacks claim more civilian lives

Monday 11-August-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

The Israeli occupation army continued, last night and on Monday, to carry out intensive deadly strikes and target civilians in different areas of the Gaza Strip, especially in Gaza City.

Al Jazeera correspondents reported last night that the Israeli army launched concentrated bombardments – known locally as “fire belts” – on the eastern and southern parts of Gaza City.

They also reported loud booms and orange flashes and fires lighting up the sky over the bombed areas of Gaza City following a wave of intensive missile strikes.

According to the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) reporter in Gaza, Israeli attacks have continued across the coastal territory, including a suicide drone strike in Gaza City that killed five journalists working for Al Jazeera satellite channel. Other people were killed and injured in the attack.

A drone also bombed a school sheltering a displaced family Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, in Gaza City, injuring several people.

Another airstrike on a tent sheltering a displaced family in Gaza City’s Al-Lababeedi street killed a couple and their child.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army detonated a number of buildings in the east of Gaza City.

In two separate incidents, Israeli forces shot dead a woman and a young man in Al-Shakoush area of Rafa'h, south of Gaza.

A citizen was martyred following an Israeli attack on a tent in Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younus, south of Gaza.

The Israeli army also massacred seven people in a drone attack on a house in Khan Younus,.

More people were martyred or injured in Israeli attacks on aid seekers near distribution points in southern and central Gaza.

Five people, including one child, were pronounced dead due to starvation and malnutrition, according to Gaza’s health ministry.

The Israeli army also launched attacks on other areas of the Gaza Strip last night and today, killing and wounding more civilians, including children and women.

Meanwhile, several Palestinians in Gaza were pronounced dead after they succumbed to injuries they sustained in recent attacks.

Five more Palestinians die due to starvation and acute malnutrition in Gaza

GAZA, August 11, 2025 (WAFA) –

Medical sources in the Gaza Strip announced the deaths of five Palestinians, including a child,  in the past 24 hours due to starvation and malnutrition in the Gaza Strip.

This brings the total number of the starvation-related fatalities to 222, including 101 children.

The ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip continues to worsen, due to the blockade and shortages of food and medical supplies. The severe famine is intertwined with the genocidal war waged by Israel since October 7, 2023.

Since March 2, 2025, the occupying authorities have closed all crossings with the Gaza Strip, blocking the entry of most food and medical aid, further accelerating the spread of famine across the territory.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has warned that malnutrition among children under five doubled between March and June as a result of the ongoing blockade.

The World Health Organization confirmed that malnutrition rates in Gaza have reached alarming levels, with nearly one in five children under five in Gaza City suffering from acute malnutrition.

Paramedic injured by Israeli gunfire in Gaza City

Monday 11-August-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

A paramedic from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society was injured on Monday evening while responding to a rescue call following an Israeli strike on a home near the University College, southwest of the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood in Gaza City.

The Red Crescent reported that paramedic Dhiyaa Mu'hammed Sulayman Al-Bayouk sustained shrapnel wounds to his right shoulder from an artillery shell. He was immediately transferred to Al-Quds Hospital, where his condition was described as stable.

The General Directorate of Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip condemned the Israeli occupation’s ongoing disregard for international humanitarian law and treaties, pointing to its consistent refusal to approve the majority of coordination requests submitted by the directorate through international and humanitarian organizations since the end of the last ceasefire in March.

According to the directorate, the Israeli occupation has only approved 10% of a total of 300 coordination requests filed via humanitarian organizations.

It stressed that Israel’s rejection of these field coordination requests for humanitarian response has resulted in the deaths of more than 2,500 civilians who were injured in targeted areas.

The Civil Defense called on the international community to pressure the Israeli occupation to comply with and respond to coordination requests for its humanitarian missions.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, backed by full US support, has continued its assault on the Gaza Strip, in what has been internationally described as a genocide. The campaign includes killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, in defiance of International Court of Justice orders to halt operations and abide by international law.

The offensive has left over 213,000 Palestinians killed or wounded, the vast majority of them women and children, with more than 9,000 missing and hundreds of thousands displaced.

The Israeli occupation apartheid regime imposes heightened restrictions on legal teams visiting Palestinian detainees in its prisons

RAMALLAH, August 11, 2025 (WAFA) –

The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said today that the Israeli occupation apartheid regime has imposed severe and heightened restrictions on legal teams monitoring the conditions of Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons, both during field visits and court sessions.

In a joint statement issued Monday, the two organizations said that, in addition to the restrictions imposed on lawyers since the start of the genocide, the prison administration had informed several lawyers that they were prohibited from conveying any family greetings or messages to detainees, and threatened to take punitive measures against any lawyer attempting to deliver such messages during visits or court sessions.

They emphasized that these measures are part of Israel’s efforts to fully isolate detainees from the outside world and their families, as the International Committee of the Red Cross continues to be prevented from visiting them, and their relatives have been barred from seeing them since the beginning of the genocide.

The statement added that, at the beginning of the war, Israel banned lawyers from visiting detainees, and after persistent efforts by specialized institutions, visits were resumed but with continued major obstacles. These included the deliberate declaration of a state of emergency by the prison administration upon the lawyer’s arrival to cancel the visit after a long journey, a practice repeated many times. Other obstacles included long delays in responding to visit requests, which could extend for two weeks or more, and sometimes several months, particularly in the case of detainees serving life sentences.

It was also reported that detainees have faced assaults and threats before or after meeting with their lawyers, along with the recent ban on a group of lawyers from visiting them for several consecutive months.

The statement further pointed to Israel’s continued crime of enforced disappearance against a large number of detainees from Gaza, by preventing legal teams from reaching them. Human rights institutions’ attempts in recent months, following certain amendments to regulations concerning Gaza detainees, have enabled visits to dozens of Gaza detainees, but only under extremely tight security measures.

WAFA correspondent reported that several armed colonists, under the protection of Israeli soldiers, attacked citizens in the towns of 'Hal'houl and Soureef, beating them severely. The attack caused several residents to suffer bruises and contusions across their bodies. They were all treated at the scene.

A group of the illegal Israeli settlers also destroyed a grape harvest belonging to the Karja family in the Hawawer area of 'Hal'houl town and stole another harvest.

Since the start of the Israeli aggression on October 7, 2023, colonists’ violence against Palestinians and their properties has sharply increased. This indiscriminate violence targeting Palestinian civilians and their property has drawn widespread condemnation. In response, several countries have imposed sanctions on Israeli colonists accused of committing such violent acts in the West Bank.

Illegal Israeli settlers force Palestinian shepherds to leave pastures near the Jordan Valley

JORDAN VALLEY, August 11, 2025 (WAFA) –

A group of the illegal Israeli settlers forced shepherds to leave their pastures in Al-Hamma in the northern Jordan Valley on Monday.

Local sources reported that armed illegal Israeli settlers forced the shepherds to leave their pastures in Al-Hamma and pursued them to areas close to their tents in the same area.

All areas of the northern Jordan Valley have witnessed a significant escalation in attacks by armed colonists against citizens and their property, including physical assaults, preventing them from grazing, stealing their livestock and property, and raiding their tents.

Due to these attacks, more than 25 Palestinian families have been displaced from their homes in the northern Jordan Valley since last summer, and three communities have been completely emptied. The number of Palestinian families in other communities has also decreased.

According to a report by the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, issued in early August, the colonists' terror and the imposition of a coercive, repulsive environment, carried out under the systematic sponsorship of the official establishment in the occupying state, have led to the displacement of 33 Bedouin communities since October 7, 2023.

Illegal Israeli settlers set new colonial outpost near Ramallah

RAMALLAH, August 11, 2025 (WAFA) –

A group of the illegal Israeli settlers established a new colonial outpost on Monday on lands in the town of 'Atara, northwest of Ramallah.

Local sources reported that dozens of colonists stormed the "Jabal El-Khirba" area at the entrance to the town, accompanied by a bulldozer.

They began paving a dirt road in the area and erecting tents there.

It is worth noting that the Jabal El-Khirba area, which covers an area of 2,000 dunams, is an archaeological site frequented by settlers periodically as part of a colonial settlement policy aimed at displacing the Palestinian population and threatening security and stability.

Monday 11-August-2025

WEST BANK, (PIC)

According to local sources, armed settlers forced Palestinian shepherds to leave pastoral lands in Al-'Hamma area of the northern Jordan Valley and chased them into their nearby hamlet.

Over 25 local families had to leave their communities in different areas of the northern Jordan Valley in the past months following a wave of aggressive practices by settlers and soldiers.

Meanwhile, another group of settlers released their sheep into the village of Shallal El-'Auja in northern Jericho as part of their near-daily provocations in the area.

In a separate incident, a horde of settlers established a new illegal outpost on a swath of land they annexed from Attara town, northwest of Ramallah.

According to local sources, dozens of settlers with a bulldozer stormed the Jabal El-Khirba area of the town, where they embarked on building a road and pitching tents.

Israel halts construction in areas near Nablus

NABLUS, August 11, 2025 (WAFA) –

Israeli occupation  apartheid regime notified several areas in the village of Duma, south of Nablus, on Monday, halting the construction there.

Duma Village Council head Sulayman Dawabsha told WAFA that Israeli forces stormed several areas south of the village and distributed notices declaring them archaeological sites, prohibiting work or agriculture there, based on the powers and laws of the Israeli government's antiquities department.

It is worth noting that the Israeli occupation apartheid regime had issued a few days ago a notice of seizure of the archaeological site in the town of Sebastya, northwest of Nablus, and the conversion of areas of its lands—one of the oldest and most important archaeological and historical sites in the West Bank—to become an "Israeli archaeological site."

Far-Right Israeli Finance Minister Smotrich calls for large-scale occupation in Gaza

RAMALLAH, August 11, 2025 (WAFA) –

The extremist Israeli Finance Minister, Bezalel Smotrich, called for the occupation of large parts of the Gaza Strip.

Smotrich told Kan, the official Israeli Broadcasting Corporation, "My plan is for large parts of Gaza to be under our control and sovereignty, and we can also settle there." He added, "This is the only way to maintain security. This is not the prime minister's plan. I know that."

During the recent security cabinet session, Smotrich expressed doubts regarding Prime Minister Netanyahu’s ability to achieve victory in the Gaza Strip.

The extremist minister opposed the gradual plan to occupy all of Gaza, as he wants a rapid and immediate occupation through a large-scale military operation, while reviving colony activities in the Gaza Strip.

Following Smotrich's statement, Knesset member Zvi Sukkot from his party threatened Netanyahu with calling early elections unless he adopted a "more aggressive war plan" for Gaza.

The Israeli security cabinet, known as the Cabinet, approved the occupation of Gaza City and the expansion of the aggression in the Strip at dawn on Friday.

According to Israeli media, the Cabinet unanimously approved a "military plan authorizing Benjamin Netanyahu and his Defense Minister, Yisrael Katz, to approve military plans."

The media added that the occupation's military plan will begin with the displacement of Gaza City's citizens southward, followed by the encirclement of the city, and then the implementation of additional incursions into population centers.

The military plan aligns with the demands of the extremist Israeli Finance Minister, Bezalel Smotrich, to occupy the Gaza Strip and build settlements there.

Since October 7, 2023, the occupation forces occupied all of Gaza City, except small areas and stayed there for several months before withdrawing from most areas in April 2024.

Smotrich also issued instructions late last year to work on imposing sovereignty over the West Bank.

Norway sovereign wealth fund sells investment in 11 Israeli companies

OSLO, August 11, 2025 (WAFA) -

Norway's sovereign wealth fund, the world's largest, announced on Monday that it was selling its investments in 11 Israeli companies due to the ongoing Israeli genocidal war on Gaza, according to the Local news website.

It reported that Nicolai Tangen, chief of Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM), which manages the fund, saying the decision was taken "in response to extraordinary circumstances".

"The situation in Gaza is a serious humanitarian crisis. We are invested in companies that operate in a country at war, and conditions in the West Bank and Gaza have recently worsened," Tangen said in a statement.

On Tuesday, the Norwegian government said that it would review its sovereign wealth fund's investments in Israel after the country’s leading newspaper revealed it had a stake in an Israeli company that provides services to Israel’s armed forces, leading to a public outcry.

Aftenposten published an investigation on Monday saying that the $1.9 trillion fund had invested in the Israeli company, Bet Shemesh Engines, which provides jet engine parts to Israeli fighter jets that are being used in its genocidal war on Gaza.

Finance minister and former head of Nato, Jens Stoltenberg, said in a statement it was understandable that questions are being raised about the fund's investments in the Israeli company, given that the fund is not supposed to invest in companies that enable states to violate international law, Verdens Gang reported on Tuesday.

“The war in Gaza is contrary to international law and is causing terrible suffering, so it is understandable that questions are being raised about the fund’s investments in Bet Shemesh Engines,” Stoltenberg said.

“In light of…the deteriorating situation in Gaza and the West Bank, I will today ask Norges Bank and the Council on Ethics to conduct a renewed review of the fund's investments in Israeli companies and Norges Bank's work on responsible management," Stoltenberg said.

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store told public broadcaster NRK that the fund's investment in the Israeli company was “worrying”.

"We must get clarification on this because reading about it makes me uneasy," he added.

In May 2025, Norway's sovereign wealth fund decided to divest from Israel’s Paz Retail and Energy because it owns and operates infrastructure supplying fuel to Israeli colonies in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The fund, the world's largest, owns 1.5 percent of listed shares across 9,000 companies globally. Worth $1.8 trillion, the Norwegian fund has been an international leader in the environmental, social and governance (ESG) investment field.

Australia to recognize State of Palestine at UN in September

Monday 11-August-2025

SYDNEY, (PIC)

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced Monday that Australia will officially recognize the State of Palestine in September, ahead of the United Nations General Assembly, saying the situation in Gaza has surpassed “the world’s worst fears” amid the ongoing genocide.

Speaking at a press conference in Canberra following a government meeting, Albanese said recognition would depend on commitments from the Palestinian Authority. He noted that he had discussed the matter with leaders of Japan, Britain, New Zealand, and Israel.

“There can be no future for Hamas in a Palestinian state,” Albanese said, pointing to what he called “a window of opportunity to achieve the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.”

He highlighted a “historic declaration” issued by Arab countries after the two-state conference chaired by Saudi Arabia and France in New York as a key factor in shaping Australia’s decision.

The “New York Declaration,” released at the end of July and hosted by the United Nations, reaffirmed Paris’ determination to recognize Palestine, a move soon echoed by Britain and Canada.

The declaration emphasized that the Palestinian Authority must be the sole governing authority over all Palestinian territories, supported by the international community. It endorsed the Palestinian Authority’s principle of “one state, one government, one law, one army,” and pledged support for disarmament and reintegration measures under a defined timetable with international backing.

Widespread events held across Greece in support of Palestinian people

ATHENS, August 11, 2025 (WAFA) -

Widespread events in support of the Palestinian people were held across Greece. The events were organized by the Palestinian community in Greece, in cooperation with the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement in Greece and the Global March to Gaza movement.

Events and activities took place in dozens of locations, including over 100 islands, cities and tourist areas, creating a remarkable and unprecedented scene of solidarity in the history of pro-Palestinian events in Greece.

The events conveyed clear messages rejecting the crimes of the Israeli occupation and affirmed the Greek people’s support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

Participants also called on the Greek government to realign its foreign policy toward the Palestinian cause in accordance with the popular stance supporting freedom, justice, and the right to self-determination.

This year’s activities and events extended to major tourist areas and Greek islands, where beaches, ports, and public squares hosted cultural and artistic sit-ins and events. Members of the Palestinian and Greek communities, alongside participants from various nationalities, took part in the events.

Observers believe that this widespread popular mobilization reflects the deep historical ties between the Greek and Palestinian peoples, established decades ago on shared values of resistance against occupation and injustice.

Editorial Notes about terms & names of people and places:

1. Names of people and places have been standardized to match standard Arabic grammatical rules.

2. Underlined letters and letters preceded by an apostrophe are references to Arabic letter sounds, which does not exist in the English alphabet.

3. The English letter i is equivalent to the Arabic short vowel known as kasra, as in Ibraheem and Qasim as well as in the English words sit and bit. So, it is incorrect to use it as a long vowel for such Arabic names as Jameel and Jibreel.

4. The English letter e is equivalent to the Arabi short vowel known as fat'ha, as in A'hmed and Mu'hammed.

5. It is more accurate to refer to the
land-grabbing Israelis, who establish illegal settlements in the Palestinian territory of the West Bank, as illegal Israeli settlers, than referring to them as colonists.

The term colony is a reference to a large entity or a country, such as American states before independence. It was also a reference to Egypt, and India, when they were British colonies.

In addition, the term "colony" represents a positive nostalgic theme, in the minds of native speakers of English, particularly in America and Britain.

6. It is more accurate to use the verbs "abduct" and "kidnap" than the verbs "detain" and "arrest," in reference to taking Palestinian citizens by force to prisons and interrogation centers, by Israeli occupation regime soldiers. This is because the presence of the Israeli occupation regime forces is illegal in the Palestinian territories, and they have no jurisdiction over the Palestinian people.
